My cover of “I Am the First And I Am the Last” by Ken Middleton. If you don’t know Ken Middleton yet, you’re missing a gem of a songwriter, ukulelist, guitarist, pianist and man. When I first heard this praise song on Ken’s song channel: www.youtube.com I was blown away. Ken’s music has a habit of doing that to me. He writes in all genres, but his praise songs touch me deeply. They’re scripturally-based and have a way of sticking in my ear for a long time. I take my version of his song a little quicker. I’m a bit nasally due to the remnants of a sinus infection. But I felt the need to record this song right now. Just to say thanks to Ken. Pictures and video are of the Lanesville, Indiana, area. The song is played on an old Harmony uke that was refurbished, and a cheap 8-string uke. As with Ken’s original video of this, which was played on an old upright piano, I use simple, inelegant tools to convey a timeless message. And to praise God.
