What Ukulele should I get as my first?

I’ve been looking at mainly soprano’s. Is a soprano a good first ukulele, or is there any other ukulele you would recommend. (I am not really interested in baritone’s)
Also please provide me with an estimate price range.

I like a Tenor size ukulele. I found the neck of the soprano a little too small. The slightly larger neck of the tenor makes it easier for me to get my fingers to fit. (Try out the fingering of a D chord on any ukeulele you look at.) I own a Kala, and I like it a lot! ($100–$200) Oscar Schmidt has a reputation for making respectable entry level instruments,(around $100 )

Get your hands on as many ukes as you can, and try them out!!! It is always better to try out the instrument you are buying in person… but if no one in your area has a lot of ukes for you to look at, you can always buy online. Two trustworthy online retailers are (and I am sure there are more that I don’t know about) http://www.elderly.com/ and http://www.musicguymics.com/. They both have these things in common…..1) You can call and talk to a live person and ask questions. 2) They will “set up” your instrument well and ship it carefully. 3) Good return policy.

    Good Luck and Have Fun!!!
