Most ukes that are sold are sopranos but you may prefer the deeper tone of a tenor or baritone. Check out Elderly’s selection:

Vaultergirl2009,
Sopranos are the original size ukuleles, but most people like concerts and tenors b/c they have a better tone. I advise most people to get either a concert or a tenor for this reason. A lot of professional musicians play a tenor b/c of tone.
Check out the Lanikai LU-21C or 21T. Both are really good ukulels at a great price. Read the reviews and you’ll see.

There are 5 sizes, the soprano smallest, concert a little bigger, tenor bigger than the concert, banjo uke all of these are played with the GCEA tuning. Baritone uke is the biggest uke and is the first four strings of the guitar, DGBE. I have been teaching uke and guitar at Bellarmine Universtiy for the last 8 years. I wanted my students to have the best sounding uke at the most affordable price. I now endorsee Lanikai Ukuleles. They are the best sounding ukes with or without electric pickups at reasonable prices. Go to http://www.lanikaiukes.com to download my FREE uke booklets. Check out the ukes too. Contact Roy T. Cone http://www.ukuleleworld.com mention MaryLou Stout Dempler, Kentucky’s Ukulele Goddess sent you. He will answer all your uke questions. To learn to play the uke, use my Mel Bay Easy Ukulele Method Books and you will be playing music in just 3 mintues without having to read music. Please join my group ukuleleswithmarylou@yahoo.com
