Yes, it’s easier. There are only 4 strings for one thing. And the strings are nylon instead of steel. As long as your hands aren’t unusually large, you’ll have a much easier time playing the ukulele. I’ve played guitar for over 20 years and when I picked up a ukulele it was comparatively very simple. The only thing I had to do was learn the chord shapes since the tuning is different than on a guitar or bass.

At its simplest level, yeah, the ukelele probably is a bit easier than the guitar, because there are only 4 strings, and its a lot smaller so the finger stretches are easier.

OTOH, if you’ve ever listened to or watched a ukelele virtuoso like Jake Shimabakuro play, you know that the uke can be every bit as challenging and difficult as the guitar.

Its all according to what you want to do with it.

    Ukulele is way easier.

For one, the strings feel… kinda rubbery so it doesn’t really strain your fingers like a steel stringed guitar.

There are only 4 strings, which makes finding chords and such a whole lot easier.

    It’s smaller; easier to manage.

Aaaannddd it’s just an awesome instrument :) !

The ukulele is easier than the guitar, because it has less strings and they are easier on the fingers.

Many Ukulele Chords and guitar Chords have the same fingering on the Fretboard:

It’s the same 12 Fret Octave. The Chord shapes are the same. Try This on Guitar:

    [G][G][G] [C][C] [D][D][D] [C][C] [G]Hang [C]on [D]Sloopy, [C]Sloopy hang [G] on

Now, using the IDENTICAL FINGERING on a GCEA tuned Uke:

    [C][C][C] [F][F] [G][G][G] [F][F] [C]Hang [F]on [G]Sloopy, [F]Sloopy hang [C] on

Try playing Wild Thing, to the same Chord progression.

Try playing Louie Louie, to the same Chord progression.

Try playing How Does it Feel, to the same Chord progression.

Do You see the Pattern? It’s the same basic 1 4 5 Rock ‘N Roll Progression that You can play Hundreds of songs to, with the same fingering as You are used to on Your Guitar. Try it and Enjoy! Ric
